You can hold a limited number of spells in your inventory. If you receive additional spells on top of your limit - they won't be added.
To avoid wasting spells you should increase your spell limits by upgrading proper skills. Also, it is recommended to use spells when you have them to keep some free space for additional charges which you may get from rewards and bonuses.
